  1. Simplify. A 2–5 page NDA has ~40 possible findings. We hide the raw document behind a triage layer: three finding types, each pinned to a location, nothing more. The lawyer should understand the contract's state in under 10 seconds.
  2. Hierarchy. Risks lead, clauses orient, edits are the action layer. Risks can get a lawyer fired; edits are housekeeping. Every layout enforces this order.
  3. Four variants, not one. The spatial problem is genuinely open: do you anchor on the document (C) or on the findings (B), split the difference (A), or force prioritization by type (D)? We're exploring, not committing.
  4. Accept / Reject as the hero. Track Changes is the mental model lawyers already have. Accept / Reject / Edit manually / Skip maps cleanly onto it, with a 1–2 sentence AI rationale to earn trust at the moment of action.
  5. Open question. Do lawyers trust an AI summary enough to triage from it, or do they need to read the source first? The answer decides whether B (dashboard) or C (document-first) is the primary pattern.

Staged copy reassures — the lawyer sees what the AI is doing, in their language.
Key decision. Determinate progress + named stages ("extracting / flagging / generating") is itself a trust move. Cancel is visible but quiet.

Why. Mutual NDAs standardly carve out residual & independently developed info. Without it, Receiving Party risks contamination claims on pre-existing work.

Open questions

to validate with users before committing
Q1

Do lawyers trust an AI summary enough to triage from it, or do they always need to read the source first? Decides whether Dashboard (B) or Document-First (C) is primary.

Q2

Is Track Changes the right mental model for AI-suggested edits? Does Accept/Reject/Edit/Skip feel too "editor" and not enough "reviewer"?

Q3

Where does the risk hierarchy break down? Is "missing clause" always higher priority than "unusual language," or is it matter-dependent?
